Born into the family whose duty for generations has been to be the family's doctor, he himself carries out the duties of doctor. Mostly he's in attendance to Akito, however, when a member of the Sohma family is injured or becomes ill, he will make house calls. Asked by Shigure, he's also come to look in on Tohru. Also, he has the ability to manipulate memory, and takes care of erasing the memory of people who discover the Sohma clan's secret. In the past, when young Yuki ended up transforming in front of his friends, it was Hatori who erased their memories.

Quiet and seemingly calm but, that is largely due to giving in to his current situation.

Personal Clothing Concept:
It's not that he especially likes suits, rather he considers them as the easiest to wear clothing that requires the least amount of thought to coordinate. Being that way, he leaves suit selection to the servants (when Kana was around, he let her choose). In due time, he'll likely be scolded for it, someone will.

He threatens Shigure who's about to tell what he transforms into. It's a statement that's most unlike his usual composed self.

When he transforms, Hatori becomes a seahorse. It seems that he secretly has a complex over that form which even among the 12shi is laughable. Even to Tohru, he didn't talk about it until the time it was inevitably revealed. The first person who didn't laugh at seeing his transformation was Kana.

Among the members of the 12shi, he's second to Shigure for being an avid reader. The time when he went to the lake property, Shigure brought a large number of Western books for him. Shigure uses the fact that Mayuko's family runs a used bookstore and directs Hatori who loves books there with the aim of restoring their relationship.

Died of illness when Hatori was in High School (His mother died of illness when he was in Elementary School). Afterall, specialising in caring for the Sohma Clan, naturally taking care of Akito, he also often saw young Yuki who suffered from bronchitis. Both his parents were of the strict sort and the household was not at all homey. Hatori's serious personality may have been fostered by that. Hatori's ability to erase people's memory was passed directly from his father. It's not a special ability, but rather is a technique, rather similar to hypnotism, that's been passed down through his family for generations.

The Memory Erased by that Hand

Hatori never hesitated erasing a person's memory when ordered by Akito or his father. The time with Yuki and Momiji he carried out his work. Akito likened that Hatori as being as cold as "snow." Eventually, Hatori ends up having to lock away his own girlfriend's memory...

Mayuko's greatly enraged by her former boyfriend's meddling. However, believing false information passed on by Shigure results in Mayuko ending up bawling but......

Mayuko is also Kana's friend from university. When she was introduced to Hatori, she fell in love with him but she hid and suppressed those feelings. While she doesn't know about the curse, she wishes for his happiness from her heart.
